    OCZ Vertex Turbo came with 1.5 firmware

    Ordered an SSD for my new laptop and it arrived with the latest firmware already installed.

    I picked up a 60GB agility during the newegg shellshocker a couple weeks back for 129 AR. It had 1.5 as well.

    How are these in comparison to the 80 gig Intels everyone swoons over? Double the price for 20 gig more is something I can do without if all things are pretty much equal.

    The Intel G2s are great on random 4k writes, but a little slower on reads. Cost/benefit, for me, leaned towards the Turbo over the G2. But if you tend to do heavy 4k writes the the extra cost could be justified.

    dyne, I have the 80 gig Intel and love it. Either the OCZ or the Intel will be fine. You will be amazed at the speed of the ssd.

    I just got the 120 agility yesterday. I haven't installed yet, but odds are probably decent I got 1.5. Get yours at Newegg, OS-Wiz?

    I'd go with intel first, everyone else second. SSDs are still kind of, um, unstable. The technology is rapidly changing and they're not the easiest things in the world to design. I'd want mine backed by the company with the most engineering talent, hardware and software, in the business. Right now, that's intel.

    Nater What do you mean by unstable?

    I have a 60GB Vertex here and a G2 80GB Intel at work, I have zero problems with either, lucky maybe? Also if I were buying another I'd buy an OCZ if for nothing else the firmware updates that are fairly fast and don't tend to brick drives.

    As much as I want to pick up another Intel for my HTPC, I think I'm going with a 30GB OCZ Vertex. It's available locally, and I need to redo the install tonight. (Win7 RC expired today.)

    Intel's are coming down to (barely) below their MSRP finally, which is good. The 400/600GB ones at the end of this year should be awesome, assuming they aren't insanely priced.

    Crusader for the 64-bit Era.
    New Rule: 2GB per core, minimum.
