If you plan on buying a PS3, keep your PS2 for those games!

The PS3 must really be a bastard to program for. Because they manage to make PS2 games look even worse. Surely this can't be that hard to fix.
Now I don't care about PSone games (the only PSone game I still have is Final Fantasy Tactics), but that would not be cool to play a PS2 game like that.
So keep your PS2 folks if you plan on getting a PS3, until this is fixed.

I love to kick Sony. But, given the price of a PS2 (i.e. pretty cheap), I don't think this is such a big deal. Most likely a PS3 owner will have a PS2 lying around.

I dont see what the big deal is about backwards compatability. Manufactureres go through so much trouble to get thier hardware to be backwards compatable. Sony put PSone hardware in the PS2 and I guess they did the same with the PS3. If you want to play your old games then keep your old systems. It would reduce the cost of the new systems.

Wow that is a huge difference. Sony touts their BC and brags about it. They actually poked fun at MS for the troubles they were having with the 360's BC saying nothing but 100% is acceptable. Now look at this crap.

Seriously, fire those programmers.
It actually takes more effort to go backwards in time...

Remember: This isn't running under emulation either, which means it's even more eff'd up.

Wow, the ps3 is a year late AND it still keeps having new issues. Sheesh. On the bright side, they still make good looking TVs!!!

Im pissed at this actually, i've got over 16 PS2 games that i would've transfered on PS3 if i ever decided between that and 360 next year.
I just dont want to keep a PS2 laying around because PS3 has shitty BC, some peoples dont mind having a bazillion cables behind their TV and dont mind having over 3 consoles under the TV, but i do, i like clean and efficient looking room. I ditched my GC for Wii, its money that also serve to buy the new console.
The jaggies can and will probably be fixed in a future update, i mean sony can say it doesnt exist or it just wont be noticed, but trust me, they said the same for PS2's dying laser drives back in the days and they kept saying its a non-issue, but internally, they were working hard to setup a support just for that problem.
There also seems to be a serious problem with PS3's color output, jaggies can be fixed but the color output... without altering everything else, its messed up, PS2 already had the worst color output out of all 3 consoles, and PS3 looks even more gray. Noticed this too in the 360 vs PS3 comparison videos on gametrailers.com. If blueray movies were affected by this aswell, i wouldnt even touch PS3 has a movie player with a ten foot pole.

Lame again. I don't know why consoles can't get this right (speaking of which, how to original Xbox games look on the 360?). This just turns more people to emulation. I can make PSX games look really nice on my PC, along with any other emulation of an outdated system. Sony should of put some effort into making PS2 games look at least as good as normal, but rather look better than usual. PSX games look like dung on the PS2 though so this doesn't surprised me too much.

XBOX games on the 360 actually look a bit better, and get anti-aliased and upscaled.
